Why do I need CEMAX Silo-Clean System ?
  • Maintenance - when inspection or repair is required, but built-up material still presents.
  • Production Problem - when blockage is causing production slowdown or stoppage.
  • Material Change – when storing different material.
  • Contamination – when material is infested naturally or due to bad quality control.
What is CEMAX Silo-Clean System ?
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System comprises specialised cutting head, equipment, methodology and technology, which operates by trained personnel, has tremendous advantages over conventional methods of cleaning silo, bin and bunker.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System is a dry system, driven by compressed air and usually requires only one operator. During the evolution, satisfactory results have been obtained in not only cleaning, but also the removal of hang-up, build-up and blockage.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System can handle build-up extending from several kilograms of contaminating dust on the ceiling and wall of a silo, to total choke of hundred of tonnes, with material varying in consistency from soft or sticky to those resembling concrete.
  • Material that is potentially explosive, hazardous or toxic can be safely removed by CEMAX Silo-Clean System with little to no direct contact.
  • Regular or programmed cleaning can maintain maximum silo capacity, operational efficiency, reduce contamination or infestation and enhance quality control.
  • For most applications, on a single silo operation, factory compressed air of 100 PSI at 250 CFM would be adequate for CEMAX Silo-Clean System requirement. For more difficult material, larger silo or simultaneous multi silo cleaning, compressed air at larger volume and pressure is required, with the employment of a mobile compressor usually necessary.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System is extremely cost effective due to the quick set-up time, speed of operation and the fact that 2 men can clean 2, 3 or even 4 silos simultaneously depending on the silos size, material, available compressed air capacity and plant layout.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System requires opening as small as 150 mm or 6 inch and works in great distance inside the silo to ensure complete cleaning from ceiling to cone and even corners, without damaging the lining or air slide.
How safe is CEMAX Silo-Clean System ?
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System requires no human-entry into a confined space, therefore, it minimises the need for company to invest and maintain all specified safety equipments, provide training retraining, maintain record, etc.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System minimises the danger of engulfment, exposure to toxic gas and other entry hazards.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System ensures that, except for the standard operating procedure when using compressed air equipment, no special safety measure is needed.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System is a dry process, i.e. no water, no chemical, no explosive, therefore, its environmentally friendly and no contamination to the stored material. Dust creation during the operation is usually negligible.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System is a effective system, with our experienced specialists, cleans without damage to the ceiling, wall, lining, bottom or air slide.
How can CEMAX Silo-Clean System saves me money ?
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System reduces the cost connected with “entry into a confined space legislation”. How much time is taken out of productive work by legislation requirement, record keeping, entry permit, gas and oxygen monitoring, etc ?
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System is 2 to 5 times faster than the old method of cleaning by hand methods. This means that silo and returned to production far faster, which is a big plus where storage space is at a premium or where production schedule is tied to the silo availability.
  • During CEMAX Silo-Clean System operation, there is minimal disruption to normal factory production.
  • Where the material is non-flowing but still useable, CEMAX Silo-Clean System is capable of reconstituting the material into a flowable form for usage in the factory process , subject, of course, to quality control. It is not unusual for up to 90% of material being reclaimed in this manner.
  • Depending on factory logistic and available compressed air supply, it is possible for more than one silo being cleaned at the same time, with no increase in operative. It is usual for CEMAX Silo-Clean System to be operated by a 2 men team, however, once set up, it can be operated by just 1 man.
  • In food industries, the standard of cleanliness after using CEMAX Silo-Clean System, is usually far greater than conventional, human-entry and hand-clean methods. Area such as ceiling, around dust collector and the small nook and cranny are extremely difficult to satisfactorily hand-clean. CEMAX Silo-Clean System makes light work of those areas. Even storage area being readied for organic material, after being cleaned using CEMAX Silo-Clean System, was tested by a hygienist and found to be acceptable. Regular cleaning, on a scheduled basis, will ensure that quality control of all storage area is maintained, pest control need decreased and the possibility of contamination with all the ramification are also minimized.
  • CEMAX Silo-Clean System can be offered in turnkey basis, means minimal in-house labour cost.
What is the advantages of CEMAX Silo-Clean System over conventional methods ?
  • Safety - The conventional methods involve putting personnel into a confined space. Apart from the workers' natural dislike of doing this type of work, the chances of an accident are relatively high, even with appropriate safety equipment.
  • Logistic - Engaging CEMAX Silo Management is useful to overcome the following common problems :
    • Lack of trained available personnel.
    • Lack of time to do the job required.
    • Interruption to other necessary factory process.
    • Lack of available silo space.
  • Hygiene - Silo cleaning has a tendency to be put on the "back burner" - put off until the necessity is overwhelming. This can result in material contamination, build-up of material, pest and lost silo capacity. The area most affected by build-up of unwanted debris, i.e. ceiling surface, in the cone or outlet area, are easily cleaned using CEMAX Silo-Clean System . Experience in the food industry has shown that the occurrence of pest and subsequent fumigation is lessened by CEMAX Silo-Clean System usage. CEMAX Silo-Clean System usage also provides cleaner silo surface resulting in better material flow.
  • Production - When factory rely on batch weigher to produce the finished material, any blockage or hang-up poses problem. In most instances, for safety, production line has to be "locked off" to allow silo entry to clear such problem. The use of mallet to encourage flow is not the best treatment of a silo and inevitably involves costly repair work at a later date. Using CEMAX Silo-Clean System, a trained operator can overcome blockage and hang-up without disrupting production, and the cleaning action has a tendency to polish the internal surface of the silo enabling better material flow. CEMAX Silo-Clean System effectively pays for itself.
  • Regulation 13 of Malaysian Factories & Machinery Act (Safety, Health & Welfare) Regulations 1970 - The above standard makes it mandatory for employer to establish safety equipment and condition for working in confined space. Apart from the cost of the relevant safety equipment, the paperwork, training and testing involved pose a constant strain on any production plant faced with these problem. Use of CEMAX Silo-Clean System obviates most of the requirements of this standard which are directly related to entering a confined space.
  • Quality Assurance - Using CEMAX Silo-Clean System, regular planned maintenance can be achieved with a minimum of fuss. This, coupled with a simple scheduling sheet, together with individual silo log sheets, provide the basis for proof of such maintenance to satisfy Quality Assurance and ISO compliance.
