As many of you have shown a lot of concerns when we talked about “water onto the hot iron surface of the kiln”.

When we explained that very small water drops onto the kiln surface that completely evaporate….. and that the amount of water is “less than 2½ days of rain shower”, when we opened a valve for 365 days 24 hours… you are still “skeptical”.

Now, what about this. The German TUEV Sued, one of the most important and known certifying companies in the world says,

Evaluation of the system application with water cooling.

In our opinion the KIMA Echtzeitsysteme “water-based rotary-kiln cooling” constitutes a tailored system application.

Negative material effects through its employment are not to be expected with this temperature control which is optimally matched to the kiln-shell and its possible Hot-Spots.

Compared to the air-cooled systems there is the advantage of a greater cooling effect, with the benefit of more efficient and constant temperature control of a Hot-Spot which then permits the second step of organizing predictable maintenance.

As a result, necessary shutdowns can be more predictably integrated and/or extended in the manufacturing process.

Conclusion – The system application “water-based rotary-kiln cooling” for rotary-kilns in the cement industry is an optimized system for Hot-Spot containment. If this device is optimally employed and implemented, no microstructural effects are to be expected in the kiln-shell material by employing the cooling medium “water”. Prerequisite here is that the material temperatures are <600˚C.
